Biography
Drawing inspiration from the many cultures, languages and people around her, Uma (b.2005) is particularly interested in the human experience of self, seeing creation fundamentally as a bridge between our internal and external worlds. Having moved often as a child, her work is fuelled by themes around identity, belonging, and object permanence. She works primarily with oil painting and printmaking but regularly uses other mediums first, such as poetry and embroidery, to translate thoughts into visual imagery before painting. Uma studied fine art in both Rome and Edinburgh and is currently based in Berlin. As of 2025, Her work has been featured in the ‘Almenara collection’ and the ‘Beautiful Bizarre’ art magazine.
